Yonex Ultima 99 Pro LTD
Monday, 30 November 2009
I bought these trainers from a recent trip to Singapore, thinking they were the Asian version of the Yonex SHB-99 LTD shoes in the UK. They looked exactly the same and were named pretty similarly. However I was sorely disappointed when I got home and used them on the badminton court.
They were awful. And very slippery - there is no grip on these trainers at all. Needless to say, my on-court performance suffered a lot. To top if off, the silver colour has started to rub off the shoes after a few sessions. They felt rather stiff and heavy too and not entirely comfortable on my feet.
There was very little information on the internet about them. What I found was quite stupendous. On the inside of the shoe, there is a label. On this label, it is printed ‘Made In China - Official Replica’. Pretty poor ones at that. I think I spent the equivalent of about £35 GBP for these. Save your money and don’t bother - steer clear of the Ultima series.
I’m back to using my old Reebok trainers now...
A discussion on the shoe, with photos, can be found here.
Official replica - surely an oxymoron when it comes to performance footwear?
