Sarah took me to Orlando, a place where she’d been many times before with her family. It was my first time.

We hired a car and what I expected to be a Ford Mustang when booking, turned out to be Mitsubishi Spyder. Watch out for the key words ‘or similar’ when booking. My first time driving in America nearly ended in disaster on my first foray onto the Interstate where I clipped a few cones trying to avoid the lane that suddenly turned into an exit that I didn’t want. The heavy screech of brakes from the car behind added to the drama of the occassion.

Having got to Orlando safely, we did all the tourist things, Epcot, SeaWorld, Universal, and the Disney parks. Despite a scary torrential downpour while we were at SeaWorld, the weather was beautiful. We also went Downtown, off the tourist track, where we had some Orlando Magic basketball tickets for the evening. I also had the pleasure of shooting some 9mm guns at a firing range - I’m not sure that Sarah was having fun here, but I did.

The plentiful shopping mall outlets were also well worth looking into. We picked up quite a few bargains in the Thanksgiving sales.
