My friend Ash and I hired a Chrysler Sebring convertible to drive from San Francisco down to Los Angeles along the Pacific coast. As hot and sunny as the weather was inland (we had sunburn to prove it), we unfortunately encountered mist and fog over the coast line. The locals told us this was the ‘June Gloom’ phenomenon - so avoid June if you’re going to do the same trip.

Despite the weather spoiling the ocean vistas, it was an excellent 500+ mile scenic drive with some of the best coastal and mountain roads I’ll ever drive. We visited quite a few towns on our trip, packing in a lot of sights into a week.
